Changed my name several years ago (was Stephen West). Played for almost 10 years in the side run by Alan Wildsmith, memorable times!! I often think back to the games at Bellew Road and the two tours to Holland. We were a small club back then but I had the pleasure of not only playing with some great players but some great mates too.
I live in Sydney now and referee in the NSW state league (same level as the Conference in the UK) and even though I'm now carrying the whistle I still think back fondly to the decade playing in goal at Mytchett.

Aldershot Mail's Youth Sports Page Headlines, 4th December 2007.

Flying Falcons hit Finchs and Tigers for six.

The Mytchett Athletic FC U12s falcons are on a flyer, thirty three goals in six matches, twelve points out of eighteen. Coach Mcmahon could not ask for a better run of form. Well done to all the boys, keep up the good work.

Well done to Mytchett under 12s for a great win over Ludwig the final score was 13-1 well done to Matt for getting motm and unluckley for Henry for letting a goal in at the end but at least i know that i have two things to laugh about because of my handball

I grew up in Mytchett and my brother Harry ran your team - I know little of football but still watch at a distance and know when a body is worth popping money in to. I see you are doing better than I would have ever forecast. I know you have more. If I see this then I will back you in the flap of a bees wing - I live in the US just now but am more than able of pushing the dollars into shoving you guys on - Keep going and your time will come - maybe sooner than you think - Steve Bridger, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

NEHY League U12's Div three
Hart Celtic 1 MAFC Falcons 7
Their hard work in the cup games paid off today. The Falcons played well, keeping their positions better and pushing forward from the defensive back four, who also kept their line well with captain Sam taking control. Hart Celtic kept being caught offside but managed to break through and went into the lead after ten minutes. Henry in goal then saved a penalty. The Falcons held their own and with a well worked attack Ben passed a lovely through ball to Kieren, who levelled the score with a super goal on twenty minutes. It was one all at half time. Reece was the mascot today due to injury and cheered the boys on.
The Falcons training was about to pay off as well, good passing and free flowing football saw Hart Celtic pinned back in their own half. With only a few attacks and a couple of corners Hart Celtic were kept out of the game for most of the second half. A quick goal after the restart for the Falcons then saw a flurry of goals to follow. Ben scored the Falcons first ever header to make it four one. Anthony scored a hat trick in five minutes at the end to earn himself MoTM but the whole team should be proud of the final result, Seven one.
Good team work, well done to Neil as well.

As General Manager of Mytchett Athletic FC I would like to publicly thank all the Managers, Coaches, Team Administrators and Parent Helpers for giving up so much time to ensure the Players enjoy their football.

May I also thank the Players, who; win, lose or draw keep turning up week after week and to them I say: Ask your Manager now how you can sign up for next season, it is never too early !

As some of you maybe aware the club have invested heavily in new kit in the last couple of years and despite the delays, we are almost there. We have had to invest in a new roof and internal decoration at Bellew Road and hope this wil be completed by the start of next season.

The club is now very strong with 28+ teams and that is testament to how successful we are as a club, so with the 2006/7 season now at a close I would like to wish you all an enjoyable summer break and let's hope for an ever more enjoyable season 2007/8.

Best Wishes
Geoff Butler

The falcons were in group B and played against,

29th Dec. The Mytchett Athletic Football Club Christmas Tournament U11s, U12s and U13s
A well attended afternoon session by approx. 75 plus boys from the three age groups. The U11s Falcons were well represented by 9 of the team. They were Ivan ( Toucans ), Josh ( Puffins ), Chris ( Storks ), James C ( Puffins ), Matt ( Ravens ), Sam ( Sea Gulls ), Elliott ( Pelicans ), Adrian ( Vultures ) and Robert ( Parrots ).
The teams were made up from a mixture of the boys, across the three age groups and the Falcons all played well in their respected teams. Well done to Chris who picked up a winners trophy. Adrian and Sam were semi finalist and Robert a quarter finalist. All those who attended received a tournament plaque.

Well done to all the teams, and also well done to the unsung hero's of the tournament, the organizers who take the time to run the days event.

Thank you!
This was our first tournament and although we didn't get past the preliminaries, both of our teams thoroughly enjoyed the day. We found the tournament superbly organised, well signposted and documented. Excellent facilities and friendly people. Do we really have to wait a year for another!!

What a bonus having the photographers. My son has been playing football for 3 years and I've never had a decent photograph of him - I've now got three!

Thank you from Sutton Scotney Football Club.

Under 10s - (NEHYL)

Hart Celtic 5 Mytchett Athletic Falcons 1

Captain Ivan took the Falcons into what was expected to be a tough match against Hart Celtic, who are second in the league, he and Josh in defence, Henry in goal. Kieren and Adrian in midfield, Robert and Cameron in attack. The Falcons fought hard with Josh clearing off the line and Adrian scored the Falcons only goal shortly after going one down. Henry produced some fantastic saves to keep us in the game but the score was 3.1 to Celtic at half time. The Falcons pushed hard in the second half.
Cameron had a near miss and took some crunching tackles. Celtic were strong
and determined in attack with a solid defence. As the falcons pushed hard
Robert took some great long throw-ins to get the ball forward, but the seven
Falcon players were running out of steam. The game ended 5.1 to Hart Celtic.
Man of the match went to Henry. Congratulations to Hart Celtic.

This artical should be in the local paper on Tuesday 21st Feb. Come on the Falcons.

A HUMOROUS VIEW FROM A SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD:
Ive played for mytchett since under 9's. I am the best goalkeeper the club has eva had and have been touted as Englands new numb 1. At the weekend James mason scored a own goal passed me from the half way line. I could have run bak to get it but i am to slow. Mytchett Falcons V Hart Celtic. It was a dry but muddy day, when the Falcons played Hart Celtic at Camberley. Hart Celtic are at the top of our league with 13 points and unbeaten. We thought we were in for a tough match. The play way end to end and Henry made some terrific saves early on. Sam D scored a curler to put the falcons in the lead just before half time. Hart Celtic were so eager to get a goal back that one of their players tapped the ball down with his hand and scored. Luckily the ref saw it and disallowed his goal.
During the break Neil our coach said we were doing fantastic and to keep up the hard work. Hart Celtic came out fighting right from the restart. We were doing well until they managed to equalise. Both teams had a few good strikes on goal and both keepers made some good saves but then Hart Celtic got lucky and scored their second goal. The falcons kept fighting to win the ball and succeeded, when they forced an equaliser by Hart Celtic scoring in their own net. O.G? The pressure was just too much for both sides in the last 10 minutes and the game finished two - two!!!
Well done to all of the players. The team today were : Henry ( man of the match ), Josh, Adrian, Anthony, Cameron, Kieran, Sam D and me Robert ( captain for the game ).

By Robert Brock.

I would just like to say a very big thank you from Alton United Under 7's Ospreys for organising such a wonderful tournament. All the players, parents, brothers and sisters had a brilliant time. We believed it to be a competitive tournament, which it was. So when all the players received a medal at the end it was a real bonus for them. For many of your players it was the first time they have ever received a medal so I know today will be remembered for along time.
Once again thanks to for all of Mytchett FC for their hard work for organising the tournament and all the referees who made it such fun and fair competition for the players.

My sincere thanks to all the helpers, if your partners helped as well please ensure you pass on my thanks to them also. If they didnt, still pass on my thanks as they had to put up with you not being at home on a glorious Bank holiday week end.

Echoing Geoff, my thanks to our Management team for the exceptional support during the long weekend. Please pass on my thanks to ALL your helpers as their flexibility and commitment made the event the success that it clearly was. BBQ was a fantastic success this year and I particularly wish to thank Stuart McKay and Pete Merryfield for their total commitment over Sunday/Monday in ensuring that the BBQ was exceptional, and everywhere I looked, at any time over the two days, there were motivated helpers on the car park, refreshments, BBQ etc and we had great support for set-up and clearing up after the event.

I also wish to thank a fantastic Exec Team performance from Chris, Geoff, Colin and Clive.
