26 May 2006 - By George! Just 7 but with 97 goals

LITTLE George Mann may only be seven years old but already hes got the world at his feet. The Young dynamo has set a goalscoring record that even Michael Owen would be proud of, scoring a club record 97 goals in 29 games for his team the Mytchett Athletic Kestrels Under 7s. In total including a single tournament and league games, predatory George has found the net no fewer than a staggering 104 times, scoring in EVERY GAME this season in a proud record of 28 wins and just one defeat. He also managed to score a massive NINE goals in one match TWICE this season - a haul which has seen him claim both the Golden Boot and a special recognition award for breaking the club record. Avid Chelsea fan George also managed to get a mention on the BBC Sport Website this week for a National poll of Star of the Week contenders and hopes one day to follow in the footsteps of his hero Frank Lampard and grace the turf at Stamford Bridge. But as his mum Kellie revealed, his goalscoring feat has not only proved to be good for the ego, but also good for the pocket. She joked We started off giving him £1 per goal but that got too expensive, so now it?s down to 1p! I dont know where the talent has come from but his dad and I are naturally very proud of him.
